“Thrive” is inspired by Lisaius’s ongoing interest in the natural world, more specifically nature. The work examines the ideas of cultivation and family by intermingling incongruence elements within a singular composition. Painted in Lisaius’s signature naïve style, the works represent man’s ability to coexist and live harmoniously, even when it seems impossible to do so. The work further explores ideas of connectivity, tenacity, balance and the universal desire to thrive. Fred Lisaius received a B.F.A. with honors from the Rhode Island School of Design (Providence, R.I.) in 1981 and also studied at the Pratt Institute in New York. He has been a Northwest artist for over 20 years, and is currently teaching painting at Bellevue Community College in Bellevue, Washington. He has had numerous solo shows and his work can be found in both private and corporate collections throughout the United States.
