Tal Walton is captivated by the idea that each viewer
brings their own experience into the interpretation of art, and he allows each
to bring their own meaning to his works. Looking to Platonic concepts which note
that the various realms of reality all stem from one ideal form, Walton’s works
do not replicate place, but seek to evoke a collective impression that landscape
leaves on each of us. Using a complex process involving materials like marble,
gold leaf, and oils, Walton’s brilliantly luminous paintings are structured with
a logical and even spiritual geometry which he believes composes our universe.
Through the organization of his works in three vertical segments, Walton
challenges the viewer to see their past, present and future lives.
“I hope that when people look at my work, what they see calms
them and illustrates the beauty that is all around us. Society has become very
complicated. Peace lies in simplicity.” - Tal Walton
