Anrzej Skorut' s paintings are a combination of subtle dichotomies that combine to create a peaceful, significant experience. Using a wide variety of materials and a broad repertoire of skills, he layers his canvases with abstracted energetic marks until a serene, representational image emerges. His work has an air of tradition, but his process is far from traditional. The rich colors and calm contemplative moods in Skorut' s landscapes are deceptively accessible. Viewers are lulled into a seemingly calm facade where they begin discovering complex abstract challenges. This is accomplished in part through extensive glazing applied loosely but deliberately, then scratched and scraped, revealing concealed depth.
