Revolution 58
encaustic on panel, 36"x36", $4,600.00
Tracey Adams seeks to discover the hidden patterns and divine order
that organize nature, despite its seemingly random or accidental beauty.
Transfixed by the enigma of mathematics’ ability to define even the most
haphazard designs of the environment, Adams
looks to the Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci sequence as an inspiration to her
abstracted encaustic works. Her process lies somewhere
in the seams of where improvisation and structure meet; hoping to point out the
marriage of these two apparently opposite acts. The symmetry and balance of
Adams’ subjects float underneath her illuminated wax surfaces, as if to imply
that the order of life can easily be masked and muddled. And yet, Adams’ mask is
wonderfully translucent, allowing the viewer to see how unified all of nature is
and how our own role in the world is effortlessly interconnected.
