MICHAEL ZIGMOND
An accomplished realist painter, Michael Zigmond’s paintings focus not only on reality, but in particular the reality of the environment in which he lives and paints. Zigmond chooses his subjects carefully and what is at first glance ordinary and comfortable, is upon closer observation a complex narrative of light, shadow, and form. Using a combination of photographic reference and direct observation, each composition is awash in intense light, as the artist enjoys the ambiguity created by the interplay of light and shadow rendered near a solid object. The resulting tension created by this juxtaposition of elements is visually exciting.
A native of Ohio, the artist has enjoyed the opportunity to participate in over 50 exhibitions including shows in Boston, San Francisco and New York.
